About

Balance Intelligence for Better Outcomes

UpRight Science is redefining balance as a core health biomarker. Our FDA-cleared smartphone software supports earlier intervention and measurable care decisions. Our mission is simple: we are keeping the world in balance.

Why balance matters

Why Balance Matters

Balance is one of the strongest and most overlooked indicators of neurological and musculoskeletal health. By making objective balance analysis as accessible as a phone in a patient’s pocket, UpRight Science enables clinicians and physicians to identify quantifiable changes earlier, which allows them to intervene sooner. We serve rehabilitation providers, primary care practices, and health systems so that they may improve patient outcomes, streamline documentation, and unlock new revenue through Remote Therapeutic Monitoring (RTM).

Flattening the Curve

That accessibility extends beyond the clinical experience with Balance Matters, a free app by UpRight Science that gives everyday users a window into their own balance health, and a powerful introduction to what the company’s medical technology makes possible. With fall related deaths among adults 65 and older rising sharply over the past two decades, it is the mission of UpRight Science to flatten that curve with technology that is simple, scalable, and scientifically sound.

Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Sanjeev Sharma MD, MBA

Sanjeev Sharma, MD, MBA, earned his undergraduate and medical degrees from Ontario's McMaster University and completed his postgraduate medical training at University of Toronto. He then spent nearly two decades as a physician specializing in emergency medicine at North York General Hospital, Trillium Health Partners and the William Osler Health System. But he came to realize that business skills would be needed to make the kinds of changes he thought that the combination of technology and medicine would require. So he returned to school, earning an MBA from Wilfrid Laurier University.

With his brother, Sunil, he founded Wellpoint, an occupational health services company. After a successful exit, he then was a founder of Highmark, the company that developed the FDA-cleared Software As A Medical Device balance technology that UpRight is bringing to the market. His goal: to make the technology's ability to collect neurological data that makes balance information a key physiological marker that will guide medical treatments.

That accessibility extends beyond the clinical experience with Balance Matters, a free app by UpRight Science that gives everyday users a window into their own balance health, and a powerful introduction to what the company's medical technology makes possible. With fall-related deaths among adults 65 and older rising sharply over the past two decades, it is the mission of UpRight Science to flatten that curve with technology that is simple, scalable, and scientifically sound.
